I was more than satisfied and had a terrific time. The riding, routes, hotels, the Giro watching spots, dinner spots…all top notch. It felt very "bespoke" without being stuffy. Bob and Caterina and Puppers…Italy’s best hosts. I will return…Stelvio next!
"CyclingHero: really, the best cycling experience of my life, bar none."
"If you want to book a cycling trip in Italy in the Dolomites and Prosecco Hills region, then CyclingHero is the tour company for you! The personal touch and attention to detail will allow you to enjoy your vacation and experience the Italian culture."
"What a great trip! We were comfortable from start to finish with the itinerary, logistics, routes, directions, app, places to go post-ride, etc. What an experience. Across the board it was awesome and we are planning on taking another tour."
"This CyclingHero adventure was absolutely amazing - I saw parts of Italy that I'd never likely see during a normal tourist visit, all while doing what I love more than anything - cycling! The terrain was incredible, the vistas unforgettable, and the organizers are highly experienced, and thus have thought through all the fine details of a cycling adventure of this sort."
"Everything a cycling trip should be with a twist of technology!"
"What an incredible experience. High end, fantastic hotels, and incredible scenery. I love the concept. I'm not one for organized events with people that I don't know. There can be too much starting, stopping, waiting, and indecision when you have a group of different people of different abilities that don't know each other."
"The selection of hotels, bars and restaurants recommended were top notch, and the whole trip was delivered at a great price considering the high-end nature of the itinerary."
"Without a doubt, the CyclingHero tour was the best cycling week of my 20+ years of cycling. A real challenge, but perfectly curated, and with excellent support throughout the trip."
"The itinerary was very well thought out and rides built on each other, culminating in a spectacular climb of the Monte Grappa. A memorable experience - highly recommended!"
Day-to-Day Schedule
This scenic ride from Verona’s outskirts along a dedicated bike path through lush terrain is a great way to ease into things. The route meanders past charming villages and vineyards before reaching the shores of Lake Garda. Cycle along the lake’s edge, passing through picturesque towns to the medieval lakeside gem of Malcesine. For those seeking a bit more of a challenge, ascend to Castion Veronese for panoramic views of Italy's largest lake before dropping down into Malcesine.
Discover the northern shores of Lake Garda, beginning your day with a ride to Riva del Garda, a mecca for outdoor sports enthusiasts. From here opt for more serene routes through Ceniga or up to Lago di Tenno, or go all in and tackle the Monte Baldo loop. Take time to explore Malcesine’s cobbled streets or ascend Monte Baldo by cable car for a different perspective on the lake and surrounding peaks.
Bid farewell to Lake Garda as you join the dedicated bike path that follows the Adige River. Pedal past the historic town of Rovereto and over the Passo Mattarello before descending into Levico Terme. Nestled by the shores of Lago di Levico, this elegant spa town of Habsburg heritage is cherished by Italians for it's curative waters and spectacular setting.
Take on one of the great climbs of Italy, the Passo Manghen, an epic ascent renowned for its stunning views and demanding gradients. Alternatively, explore the Valsugana Valley, cycling along the scenic bike path to Borgo Valsugana. End the day with a restorative dip in Levico’s thermal waters.
The easier option on this day follows the Valsugana bike path on a spectacular, mostly downhill route following the Brenta river all the way into Bassano del Grappa. Alternatively, climb up into the Asiago Plateau and continue through the town of Asiago (of cheese fame) before a spectacular final descent into Bassano.
Bassano is a gateway to some exceptional riding on both sides of the Brenta river. Test your limits on Monte Grappa, a climb steeped in history, or explore the rolling hills of Asolo and Possagno. Alternatively, cross the historic Ponte degli Alpini bridge and explore the other bank of the Brenta river with a visit to medieval Marostica and the famous climbs of San Luca and La Rosina. Conclude with a stroll through Bassano’s lively streets and its abundance of wine bars and cosy restaurants.
Wrap up this week of exploration with an optional final ride to Treviso via the charming hills around Asolo and the Montello, site of the 1985 UCI Road World Championships. From here, Venice awaits, just a short train ride away.
