From Sestri Levante to Levanto

After a morning pick-up in Parma, you’ll transfer to one of Italy's most picturesque stretches of the Mediterranean. Begin your adventure in the charming seaside town of Sestri Levante, famed for its stunning twin bays.

The more challenging ride starts at sea level, gradually climbing into the coastal hills before descending into Framura where it joins the coastal bike path converted from the old rail line. The route concludes in the historic town of Levanto, known for its medieval center and beautiful beach.

There is also the option to start further up in Mattarana for a shorter ride with less climbing.

Exploring the Cinque Terre

Starting in Levanto, your route climbs into the hills of the Cinque Terre, offering breathtaking coastal views. You’ll pass through a landscape of ancient terraced vineyards, connecting scenic villages via a mix of quiet paved roads and cycling-friendly paths.

After descending into the colorful fishing village of Manarola, you can choose to continue riding or enjoy a scenic train ride back to Levanto.

Levanto to Pontremoli via Val di Vara

A steady climb out of Levanto takes you into the stunning Val di Vara. After cresting the high point at Calzavitella, you’ll enjoy a gradual descent to the Tuscan town of Pontremoli, a medieval gem known for its Castello del Piagnaro.

For those seeking a challenge, an optional detour over the Passo della Mola rewards with views of the French Maritime Alps.

From Pontremoli to Tabiano Castello via the Cisa Pass

Leaving Pontremoli, the route takes you along a quieter road to the challenging Cisa Pass, rewarding you with sweeping views before a descent into the picturesque stone town of Berceto. From there, you'll join the ancient pilgrimage trail of the Via Francigena, descending to the Taro River valley and finishing the day at your castle abode in Tabiano Castello.

For a gentler ride, you can skip the initial climb and start your journey in Berceto.
