From Treviso, the hometown of Pinarello, a short ride brings you to the beautiful Pinarello flagship store located just outside of town. The route then reaches the edge of the Montello where there is the option to stretch the legs on the climb that featured in the 1985 World Championship road race. After passing over the Piave river at Ponte della Priula it&#39;s time to enter the Prosecco Hills via a climb up to the beautiful Collalto castle. The more ambitious can take in the Ca&#39; del Poggio climb before reaching the charming village of Soligo.

Warm-up in the Veneto Cycling Paradise

This spectacular day starts by heading East through the town of Rolle, and descending down to the valley road connecting Vittorio Veneto and Valdobbiadene. The more ambitious have the option at this point of taking on the <a href="https://cyclinghero.cc/climb/passo-san-boldo">Passo San Boldo</a>, a breathtaking 7 km climb carved into a cliffside of the Belluno pre-alps. The route then continues through Cison di Valmareno, and climbs up to the town of Combai, before descending into Valdobbiadene and crossing the Piave river to enter the Colli Asolani area. The last climb of the day is into Asolo, also known as “the Town with a Hundred Horizons”.

- From Tovena -Heading north from Tovena the lower slopes, framed by towering peaks either side are very gentle as you ride into the valley towards the first of the 18 numbered hairpins. Still on a shallow incline the road now begins to sway round its flowing bends up the lush hillsides towards its dramatic finale. The first of the hairpin tunnels arrives just after the five kilometre mark and now the slope is steeper, but never too steep because built as a military road the gradient was never allowed to exceed 12%. Traffic, including cycles is only allowed in one direction from here with the tunnels controlled by lights so have some patience then revel in the unique experience of hairpin bends cut directly into a mountain.

Linking the towns of Tovena in the south and Trichiana in the north this pass is modest in length but with five of its 18 hairpin bends inside tunnels is one not to be missed. The project to construct a replacement for the steep path across this mountain was started in the late 19th century but was way behind schedule until the Austro-Hungarian army arrived during WW1. Deemed vital to supply their troops on the Piave front they finished the job between February and June 1918 using 7000 workers, mostly Russian prisoners. They worked day and night to complete this marvel of road building in just 100 days. Was one of the categorized climbs of stage 19 of the 2019 Giro d&#39;Italia.

Prosecco Hills and Switchback climbs

Today we explore the area around Bassano del Grappa, beautifully situated along the Brenta river. The first part of the route passes through some of the towns nestled below the imposing Monte Grappa. For those up for a little more exploring, an extra loop brings you to Marostica and up the stunning La Rosina climb which offers fantastic views of the Venetian plains. Whichever route you pick, it’s a mostly flat return to Asolo before the final push back into town.

If there is one event that will make you want to relocate to Italy, it is the Granfondo Segafredo. Taking in both the Colli Asolani and the Prosecco Hills, the 105 km circuit will go by so many spectacular views of the <a href="https://cyclinghero.cc/region/veneto-prosecco-hills">Veneto &amp; Prosecco region</a> that you might have a problem staying on the road! Although there are no seriously long ascents to conquer, the rolling vineyard landscape adds up to 1400 m of total climbing for the day. #piccolofiandreveneto

The start line for the event is in the village of Posagno, the birthplace of the famous sculptor Canova. After a short downhill, the route crosses the Piave river and enters the Prosecco region south of Valdobbiadene. The first significant uphill of the day is into the town of Combai, nestled on the hillside of the Monte Cesen and affording great views of the Prosecco valley. Passing back over the Piave, the route enters the Colli Asolani area once again and reaches the next challenge of the day, the Forcella Mostaccin, a 3.5 km ascent to the ridge of the Asolani hills. Continuing westward to the edge of Bassano del Grappa, the route then starts the last uphill of the day in the shadow of the Monte Grappa, before returning to Possagno and a last still kick up to the impressive Canova Temple.
